Academic Resource Centre

The Library was established in 1994 in a tiny room with a small collection of books. Through continuous development, it now has its own building, a spacious reading room, law reports, journals, magazines, newspapers and a digital library.

The library supports students and teachers in the teaching-learning process through circulation, reference service, digital access, question paper repository and academic guidance.

Services

Student Support Facilities

Internet Access

Internet and email facilities are available in the library.

Issue & Renewal

Books are issued for seven days and may be renewed for another week.

Notice Display

Current books, journals and updates are displayed regularly.

Orientation

User orientation programmes are conducted for students and teachers.

Book Bank

Economically weaker students may borrow subject sets for an academic session.

Caution Money

Qualified students may apply for library caution money refund as per rules.

Code of Conduct

Library Rules & Regulations

All students, staff members and visitors must follow these regulations while using the college library and computer laboratory.

Effective from 07 July 2026
Important Notice

Violation of library rules may result in restriction or suspension of library privileges after consideration by the Library Committee.

Bags and Helmets Are Not Allowed

Backpacks, polythene bags, laptop bags, file-folder bags, document bags, helmets and similar belongings must not be carried inside the library.

Personal belongings must be kept in the designated area at the owner’s risk. The library will not be responsible for loss or damage.

Personal Belongings and Charging

Users must not leave baggage or personal belongings inside the library overnight.

Charging mobile phones, laptops or other electronic devices inside the library is not permitted.

Do Not Reshelve Books

Users must not return books directly to the shelves after reading or consulting them.

Books should be deposited on the circulation table or handed over to the Librarian’s desk.

Outside Books Are Restricted

Users must not bring their own books, notebooks or practical copies inside the library unless specifically permitted.

Practical reports, dissertations, magazines, journals and newspapers belonging to the college are non-issuable. Users may scan or photograph them where permitted.

Protection of Library Resources

No library resource may be removed, moved, altered or modified without permission from the Librarian.

Marking, tearing, damaging or tampering with books and documents is strictly prohibited.

Theft and Unlawful Removal

Any person found committing or attempting theft of books, documents, equipment or other library property shall be dealt with according to law.

Maintain Silence and Discipline

Users must maintain silence, behave appropriately and avoid disturbing other readers.

Library staff may ask any person causing disturbance or behaving inappropriately to leave the library.

College Uniform Is Mandatory

Students must wear the prescribed college uniform while using the library.

Students who do not follow the uniform requirement may be asked to leave the library.

Food and Drinks Are Prohibited

Tiffin, food, beverages and other edible items are not allowed inside the library or computer laboratory.

Food must be consumed only in the designated college canteen area.

Biometric Attendance Is Mandatory

Every library user and visitor must record biometric attendance both at the time of entry and exit.

Collection Scope: The collection includes AIR, Supreme Court Cases, Gauhati Law Times, Gauhati Law Report, Indian Bar Review, Criminal Law Judgment, Practical Lawyer, ILI, statutes, magazines, newspapers and legal e-databases including AIR Online and SCC Online.

Special Collection: Special collections include valuable law books donated by Shri Sarat Phukan, IPS and DSP (Retd.), Late Sri K. Laskar and Adv. Akdas Ali Mir.
